L3Harris Technologies has been awarded $84 million in new contracts to deliver additional Falcon AN/PRC-158C manpack radios to the US Army, reinforcing the service’s Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) modernization program. The initiative aims to upgrade legacy command-and-control systems by introducing digitally connected networks that enhance situational awareness and enable faster, more informed battlefield decision-making.
The contract covers L3Harris’ AN/PRC-158C software-defined gateway radio, a lightweight, dual-channel communication system capable of operating across multiple waveforms and diverse operational environments. Supporting frequencies ranging from 30 MHz to 2.5 GHz, the radio provides secure beyond-line-of-sight voice and data communications for distributed forces. The new orders expand on a $24 million procurement awarded in October 2025, further strengthening the Falcon radio’s role as a core communications platform linking battle management systems, sensors, and combat units under the Army’s evolving NGC2 architecture.
