Marine Group Boat Works, based in California, has delivered a new Advanced Range Support Vessel to the US Navy to strengthen its ability to conduct next-generation weapons testing in maritime environments.
Constructed at the company’s facility in Chula Vista, the specialized craft includes an open aft deck designed for launching aerial and surface targets. A hydraulic crane installed onboard will assist with the recovery of these targets following test operations.
The aluminum vessel underwent assembly and validation based on American Bureau of Shipping commercial standards, with further oversight and inspections provided by the US Coast Guard.
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division will operate the vessel at the Point Mugu Sea Range, supporting a range of offshore defense testing and evaluation activities.
