Rheinmetall has been awarded a 300-million-euro ($348.6 million) deal to supply mobile, armored field hospital systems to the German military under a long-term program extending to 2040.

Initial deliveries are slated for 2029, with the units destined for German deployments in Lithuania and other NATO forward areas. The framework also permits follow-on orders to expand capacity if required.

Designed to NATO Role 2B standards, the new field hospitals will be capable of providing emergency surgery, stabilization, and intensive care near active combat zones.

Each system will consist of 11 armored HX trucks outfitted with containerized medical modules that can operate while attached, ensuring mobility and rapid readiness even in challenging terrain.

The HX platform, Rheinmetall’s proven military logistics vehicle, offers robust protection, high reliability, and off-road endurance, making it ideal for frontline medical operations.

According to Rheinmetall, the new capability will significantly enhance the Bundeswehr’s battlefield medical response, reducing treatment delays and increasing survivability for injured soldiers.
