Washington has approved the potential transfer of 12 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and related systems to Austria in a deal valued at approximately $1.5 billion.
The US State Department stated that the sale would enhance Austria’s defense readiness against present and emerging threats while enabling closer operational cooperation with US and allied forces. Officials emphasized that the move supports American strategic and foreign policy goals by reinforcing the security of a key European partner that promotes political stability and economic growth across the region.
Congress has been notified of the proposed sale, and the transaction remains subject to congressional approval before finalization.
