HENSOLDT UK has secured two agreements with SRT Marine Systems to supply 50 coastal surveillance radar systems for national maritime monitoring initiatives. These systems will be integrated into comprehensive coastal surveillance networks designed to enhance tracking, detection, and operational awareness in busy and sensitive maritime zones.
The radar solutions are based on HENSOLDT UK’s Coherent Shore-Based Sensor architecture, enabling persistent performance in complex coastal environments characterized by heavy traffic, sea clutter, and variable weather conditions.
Each system features the company’s SharpEye radar technology, a solid-state transceiver that offers extended detection ranges, high reliability, and lower maintenance requirements compared to traditional mechanically scanned radar systems. SharpEye is widely used across maritime surveillance, harbor protection, and naval navigation, with particular strength in identifying small or low-signature targets such as fast attack craft in cluttered sea conditions.
The SharpEye radar has seen growing adoption across global maritime programs. In 2024, HENSOLDT UK was awarded contracts to modernize coastal radar infrastructure supporting UK maritime security operations, enhancing monitoring across critical coastal regions. In the previous year, the system was selected for deployment on patrol vessels and coastal installations in Southeast Asia, supporting efforts to strengthen maritime domain awareness and safeguard vital sea lanes.
