The US Department of Defense has awarded Leidos a $456-million contract to continue managing Military OneSource, its primary assistance platform for service members and military families.

Awarded through the General Services Administration, the four-year contract ensures Leidos will maintain support services that include round-the-clock counseling, deployment assistance, relocation help, tax guidance, and spouse employment resources.

The program currently supports more than 4.7 million service members and relatives by providing confidential assistance via telephone and live chat services.

Military OneSource functions as a centralized resource network aimed at reducing the administrative and personal burdens associated with military life, including frequent transfers, deployments, and career changes.

The platform also provides financial planning support and caregiver guidance alongside its counseling services.

Expanded Pentagon Support Initiatives

The contract aligns with broader Pentagon efforts to improve quality-of-life programs for military families, with recent initiatives focusing on financial resilience, housing support, and access to mental health services.

In 2025, the Department of Defense broadened the MCCYN child care initiative and launched MCCYN-PLUS to improve access in locations without accredited child care providers.

The year before, the Pentagon strengthened relocation and financial assistance programs, including a new benefit permitting service members to reserve up to $3,200 in pre-tax income for medical expenses while also increasing temporary lodging support during relocations.
