Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has delivered ‘Mangrol,’ the third vessel in the Indian Navy’s eight-ship Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) program, marking another step forward in India’s indigenous naval manufacturing efforts.
The delivery reinforces the country’s maritime defense capabilities while contributing to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision by demonstrating India’s ability to develop and build sophisticated naval platforms domestically.
The Delivery Protocol was formally signed by Dr. Harikrishnan S., CSL Director (Operations), and Commander U Sharan Kumar, Commanding Officer (Designate) of ‘Mangrol.’ CSL CMD Shri Jose VJ and Commodore Piyush Badoni, Chief Recruiting Officer of HQ Western Naval Command, were among the senior officials present at the event, along with representatives from CSL and the Indian Navy.
Built completely by CSL, ‘Mangrol’ has been specifically designed to perform anti-submarine warfare missions in shallow and coastal waters. The platform incorporates advanced indigenous sensors and weapon systems that enable it to identify, monitor, track, and respond to underwater threats.
The vessel is expected to enhance the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare readiness, coastal surveillance, and maritime security capabilities, providing greater operational coverage across India’s extensive coastline.
