Textron Systems has been awarded a $9.5 million contract to support a US Air Force review of a critical defensive sensor on the F-15 Eagle platform.

The project will focus on the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), a modern upgrade that replaces older radar warning and countermeasure systems onboard the aircraft.

As part of the contract, Textron will provide multiple units of its Advanced Architecture Phase, Amplitude, and Time Simulator (A2PATS), a specialized tool used to assess radar warning performance against contemporary electronic warfare threats in complex signal environments.

The scope includes benchmarking support and spare parts in addition to the testing infrastructure. Activities will be carried out with the 68th Electronic Warfare Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base over a 17-month timeframe.

The program will also contribute to evaluations tied to foreign military sales requirements.

Textron noted that A2PATS delivers highly realistic simulation by generating diverse battlefield waveforms. Its plug-and-play design reproduces signal characteristics—such as phase, amplitude, and timing—across various frequencies and distances, enabling precise system validation.
