Hyundai Rotem intends to establish Poland as the European base for production, assembly, and sustainment of the K2 Black Panther tank, Hankyoreh News reported. This decision comes after the company signed a second executive contract with the Polish Ministry of National Defence, worth roughly $6.5 billion, building on an earlier framework deal signed in 2022.

The contract calls for 180 more K2 tanks, including the first 64 in the new K2PL configuration, designed specifically for Poland’s requirements. A key element of the agreement is the complete transfer of production and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) know-how to Polish industry. While the first three K2PL tanks will roll out of South Korea, the remaining 61 from the opening batch will be assembled by Bumar-Łabędy, a subsidiary of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), in Gliwice. The site is being developed into a leading armored vehicle hub for Europe.
