XTend AI Robotics has received an order for 6,000 combat drones after being recognised as a top-performing participant in Gauntlet 2 of the US Department of Defense’s Drone Dominance Program.
Valued at more than $40.5 million, the contract will supply US forces with STRIKER drone systems powered by XTend’s proprietary XOS software platform. The company describes XOS as a “human-guided autonomous operating system” designed to combine human oversight with machine autonomy.
The platform supports drone operations while minimising the need for direct physical interaction with the systems. The order marks a significant step in XTend’s participation in the US military’s efforts to expand its combat drone capabilities and accelerate the adoption of autonomous technologies for defence applications.
