Dutch vehicle solutions manufacturer Broshuis has secured an order for 15 Heavy Equipment Trailers (HETs) to increase the Danish Armed Forces’ capacity to transport Leopard 2 main battle tanks.
The order was placed by truck manufacturer Scania on behalf of the Danish military under their ongoing partnership. Scania will provide the tractor units, while Broshuis will supply the specialized HET trailers.
Deliveries are scheduled for later this year and will increase Denmark’s military ground-transport fleet to more than 60 platforms across its armed services.
The procurement follows Denmark’s acquisition of 44 Leopard 2A7 main battle tanks. All 44 vehicles have been delivered and are operational, supporting Denmark’s national defense requirements and NATO-related missions across Europe.
Broshuis HET System
Designed for both road and off-road operations, the Broshuis HET offers an 85-tonne payload capacity, which can increase to 90 tonnes when operated with heavier tractor units.
The trailer features a 900-mm loading deck height, 600 mm of suspension travel, hydraulic compensation, and auxiliary steering. These capabilities allow the system to operate across challenging terrain and slopes of up to 18%.
Broshuis also secured an order last year for 39 HETs for the Dutch Armed Forces. These trailers will support the transportation of the Netherlands’ new Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks.
In addition, Broshuis maintains a long-term partnership with the US Armed Forces. In collaboration with Oshkosh Defense, the company is supplying up to 557 specialized trailers to the US military through 2031.
