The US State Department has approved a potential $425 million Foreign Military Sale to Denmark covering three MH-60R Seahawk multi-mission helicopters and associated equipment.
The proposed package includes navigation systems, magnetic anomaly detection equipment, multi-mode radars, missile warning systems, and other mission-related components. It also includes spare T700-GE-401D engines, communications security equipment, logistics support, and technical documentation.
The agreement would provide additional support services for helicopter integration, testing, logistics, personnel training, and obsolescence engineering.
Washington noted that the sale remains subject to final agreements and emphasized that the potential transfer would not require the deployment of additional US government or contractor personnel to Denmark.
Denmark Expands MH-60R Fleet
The acquisition would increase Denmark’s existing fleet of nine MH-60R Seahawks, which were delivered between 2016 and 2018.
Operated by Squadron 723 from Air Base Karup in Jutland, the helicopters conduct anti-submarine warfare, land-attack, and maritime patrol missions. Some aircraft are also deployed aboard Royal Danish Navy vessels.
Recent MH-60R Foreign Military Sales
The potential Danish sale follows US approval of a separate MH-60R package for South Korea. Valued at approximately $2.4 billion, the proposed deal covers 24 helicopters and would expand South Korea’s fleet beyond its initial order of 18 Seahawks.
In June, the US also approved a potential $1.5 billion MH-60R sale to New Zealand.
