The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has launched a new command to manage the supply of spare and repair parts critical for maintaining military weapons systems.
Named DLA Weapons Support, the unit merges DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia, with DLA Land and Maritime in Columbus, Ohio, into a single organization responsible for Class IX supplies—the parts and components that ensure aircraft, vehicles, and other equipment remain mission-ready.
Both existing facilities will remain operational, though signage and organizational branding will be updated to reflect the new structure.
DLA stated that Weapons Support leadership will be shared during a one-year transition, with regular updates provided to employees and customers as the integration progresses.
