Hanoi is wrapping up talks with India for a $700-million purchase of BrahMos supersonic missiles, intended for deployment via the Vietnam People’s Air Force’s Su-30s and ground-based systems. The acquisition supports Vietnam’s ongoing military modernization goals. The deal follows earlier interest in a $625-million package covering three to five missile batteries and could be signed in the coming weeks. Vietnam would be the second country in Asia to acquire BrahMos, after the Philippines’ 2021 deal for a coastal defense variant.
