EdgeRunner AI, in collaboration with the US Army’s Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C), has introduced a specialized large language model designed for military applications, reportedly lowering error rates by as much as 37 percent in key Army tasks.

The model, called EdgeRunner-Camo, is an open-weight AI system fine-tuned for local operation, enabling deployment in secure and air-gapped environments without reliance on cloud-hosted services.

To develop the model, EdgeRunner and AI2C examined 1.4 million CamoGPT conversations containing 17.7 million messages, removing non-military content, personally identifiable information, and queries that depended on external tools or retrieval systems.
