Denmark’s Terma and Norway’s Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services have established a joint venture to increase military aircraft maintenance capacity in Denmark and strengthen aviation support across the Nordic region.

The new venture, named Defence Aviation Services, will provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for military aircraft and other airborne platforms. It will initially develop its capabilities in Denmark before expanding support to military fleets operated by Nordic countries and allied nations.

Terma contributes its experience supporting the Danish Armed Forces, while Kongsberg brings MRO expertise gained through its work with Norway’s military aviation fleet.

Strengthening Nordic Aviation Sustainment

Defence Aviation Services aims to expand Denmark’s domestic aircraft maintenance infrastructure while establishing a broader support network for Nordic and allied military operators.

A key objective is to strengthen security of supply by developing local technical expertise and industrial capacity, reducing reliance on maintenance resources that could face constraints during periods of increased military demand.

The venture also plans to develop a skilled workforce and encourage closer cooperation among countries operating common aircraft platforms. Shared maintenance capabilities could improve coordination and support fleet availability, although the companies have not announced specific contracts, fleet commitments, or service delivery timelines.
