The Mojave uncrewed aircraft has completed what its developers describe as the first battlefield demonstration of short-field operations by a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) drone.

The demonstration was conducted by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) and Hanwha Aerospace in cooperation with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army at military facilities north of Seoul.

During the exercise, pilots operating from ground control stations launched the Mojave short takeoff and landing (STOL) uncrewed aircraft from a conventional runway at the ROK Army’s 513th Aviation Battalion.

The demonstration highlighted the Mojave’s ability to operate from relatively short runways in battlefield environments, potentially expanding the locations from which MALE unmanned aircraft can be deployed for military missions.
