The loitering munition being developed by BEL is described as a combination of a cruise missile and an unmanned combat aerial platform. Built for autonomous as well as semi-autonomous missions, the system is capable of independently locating, identifying, tracking, and attacking targets without requiring constant operator control. The platform is designed for multiple battlefield roles, including engaging soft targets and lightly armored vehicles, underlining the growing operational value of adaptable precision-strike assets.
The system is designed around precision attack capability, carrying an onboard warhead intended for accurate engagement of designated targets. Advanced threat recognition and target identification functions suggest the use of sophisticated onboard sensors and real-time processing algorithms capable of classifying and prioritizing threats during missions.
