L3Harris Technologies has carried out a demonstration showcasing the integration of its Red Wolf launched effects system with the Skyraider II International aircraft. The trial involved a test fit to evaluate both structural and system compatibility, ensuring the payload can be effectively deployed from the platform. Launched effects—compact, often expendable unmanned systems—are increasingly being explored by militaries to expand mission reach across sensing, communications, electronic warfare, and strike domains.
Designed for versatility, the Red Wolf system supports deployment from multiple platforms, including aircraft and ground systems, offering flexibility across varied operational scenarios. The Skyraider II International, a light attack and special operations aircraft, is built for operations from minimally prepared airstrips and supports modular payload configurations.
The demonstration is part of a broader effort to integrate launched effects into platforms with open architecture systems, enabling easier upgrades and adaptability over time. Rather than indicating near-term deployment, the exercise reflects ongoing testing aimed at advancing distributed operational concepts and enhancing interoperability between next-generation unmanned systems and modular aircraft.
