MBDA subsidiary GDI Simulation is acquiring Agenium Group to strengthen its military simulation and training portfolio with artificial intelligence capabilities.
Under the agreement, Agenium will become a wholly owned subsidiary of GDI Simulation. The two companies will combine their existing technologies and expertise to develop solutions for military study, experimentation, and training across land, air, space, and maritime operations.
Agenium brings experience in virtual training simulators, 3D content, synthetic environments, and AI-assisted technologies, while GDI Simulation specializes in simulation software and military training systems.
According to the announcement, the acquisition will enable Agenium’s AI capabilities to be integrated into GDI Simulation’s existing products and solutions. The combined entity will have approximately 120 employees.
AI Expanding Military Training Capabilities
AI is increasingly being used not only to support military operations but also to transform how troops train and how exercises are designed.
In July, the US military began testing a new approach to AI adoption by embedding engineers and trainers directly into operational missions.
That same month, the British Army launched plans for a digital Combat Laboratory combining live exercises, virtual battlefields, and AI-powered analytics under a £2 billion ($2.7 billion) training program led by Omnia Training.
Earlier, in May, the US Marine Corps made basic AI training mandatory for active-duty and reserve personnel. The 45-minute course covers core AI concepts, practical applications, and decision-support tools, including generative AI.
