Patria has partnered with KNDS Deutschland Maintenance to establish assembly and final integration of its 6×6 armored personnel carriers in Germany under the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.
The new industrial agreement supports two contracts that Germany awarded to Patria in December 2025. Serial deliveries are scheduled to ramp up from early 2027, with German facilities expected to assume a progressively larger share of production activities.
KNDS Deutschland Maintenance will be responsible for vehicle assembly and final integration, forming part of a wider initiative to create a domestic manufacturing and supplier network for the Patria 6×6. Patria will support the effort by transferring the technical knowledge and expertise needed for local production.
The CAVS program was initiated by Finland and Latvia in 2020 with the aim of providing participating nations with a standardized Patria 6×6 platform. At the same time, the system allows individual users to customize vehicle configurations according to their national military requirements.
Patria 6×6 vehicles are already in service or have been delivered to Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark, and Germany. Norway and the UK are participating in the wider program, while the vehicle has also entered operational use in Ukraine.
The European Union has further supported the initiative with €60 million ($70 million) through the European Defence Industry Reinforcement through Common Procurement Act, which promotes collaborative defense procurement among EU member states.
Patria Expands Land Systems Portfolio
The German agreement comes amid broader activity across Patria’s armored vehicle portfolio.
Finland, Norway, and Latvia recently signed a statement of intent to examine the potential adoption of Patria’s TRACKX tracked armored vehicle and strengthen cooperation in military land mobility. TRACKX was developed through the EU-backed Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armored Systems program and is designed as a lightweight tracked platform for challenging operational environments.
The three countries will exchange results from field trials, coordinate future development activities, and assess potential opportunities for joint procurement.
In another development, Patria and Slovakia updated their production schedule in June to speed up deliveries under Slovakia’s 8×8 armored vehicle program. Infantry fighting vehicle variants have been prioritized, while ambulance versions were delivered during the same month. Other configurations remain in production or are progressing through systems integration.
