The US Navy has awarded Boeing a $562 million contract to initiate low-rate initial production (LRIP) of the MQ-25A Stingray, advancing the carrier-based unmanned aerial refueling aircraft from development toward operational deployment.

The contract covers the production of three MQ-25A Stingray aircraft under Lot 1, along with advance procurement of long-lead components required for three additional aircraft under Lot 2.

The award represents a key step in transitioning the MQ-25A from its development phase into initial production and eventual fleet service. The unmanned tanker is designed to extend the operational range and endurance of carrier-based aircraft by providing aerial refueling support from aircraft carriers.
