BAE Systems, Boeing, and Saab have joined forces to propose a new advanced pilot training system for the Royal Air Force based on Boeing’s T-7 trainer aircraft. The partnership aims to deliver a modern training ecosystem combining aircraft, simulation, and digital technologies.The proposed program includes establishing a UK-based final assembly and integration facility, creating opportunities for domestic manufacturing, industrial growth, and long-term aircraft support capabilities.The T-7-based system would provide RAF pilots with advanced preparation for frontline aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon and F-35 while maintaining flexibility for future sixth-generation combat platforms.The initiative follows the T-7A Red Hawk’s progress in the US Air Force program, where the aircraft has moved into initial production after completing key development milestones.The partnership is expected to strengthen Britain’s aerospace sector by supporting local suppliers, skilled employment, and sovereign defense capabilities.
