US Navy Awards V2X $87 Million Deal for F/A-18 Pylon Sustainment
V2X, headquartered in Virginia, has received an $87 million US Navy contract to overhaul SUU-79 pylons supporting the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleets.
As an essential underwing subsystem, the SUU-79 enables F/A-18 aircraft to carry and deploy a range of weapons and external stores. V2X has been involved in sustaining Navy F/A-18 equipment, including these pylons, since the aircraft family began entering service during the 1980s.
The new agreement calls for the company to overhaul and modernize the pylons through advanced repair procedures and lifecycle sustainment approaches. These efforts will help extend component service life and ensure continued support for frontline naval aviation missions.
The entire program will be executed at V2X’s Indianapolis, Indiana, facility, with work scheduled to conclude in January 2030.
