The United States Marine Corps has placed an order with Polaris Government and Defense for more than 70 MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicles, marking the service’s first acquisition of the platform’s new 5kW exportable-power variant.

The procurement falls under a five-year, $98 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract framework, allowing the Marine Corps to issue orders according to evolving operational requirements. The agreement also provides for ongoing engineering support and logistics services from Polaris.

More than half of the vehicles included in the order will feature the enhanced 5kW power-export capability, while the remainder will utilize the standard 1kW configuration. All platforms will be delivered as four-seat tactical vehicles in a green military finish.

The availability of 5kW of exportable power at 24 volts significantly expands the vehicle’s operational utility by supporting increasingly power-intensive battlefield technologies, including tactical computing systems and air defense equipment. This capability also enables the vehicle to power external systems such as forward operating tactical grids, which are essential for expeditionary and littoral operations conducted in contested environments.

Despite the increased power generation capability, the MRZR Alpha maintains its core operational functionality. The vehicle retains its capacity to transport two casualties on litters along with mission-critical equipment, while eliminating the requirement for separate generators and preserving valuable cargo space.

The order further includes a range of accessories commonly employed by Marine Corps units operating the MRZR Alpha. These comprise a reversible roof system with dual camouflage configurations, a road movement kit featuring upgraded lighting and mirrors, and a modular cargo arrangement equipped with side rails, tailgates, and integrated aircraft-compatible securing rails. Additional features include a roll-cage-mounted fire extinguisher and a dedicated towbar storage solution.

As Polaris’ flagship light tactical platform, the MRZR Alpha is engineered for expeditionary forces requiring high payload capacity, exceptional off-road mobility, and transportability by military aircraft. More than 500 examples are already in service with the Marine Corps, supporting a wide range of missions, including logistics operations, casualty evacuation, infantry maneuver, aircraft refueling support, and counter-unmanned aerial system operations.

The platform is available in both 1kW and 5kW power configurations to support diverse operational requirements, from lightweight electronics to high-demand mission systems. Both variants incorporate a three-port fused power interface that enables simultaneous internal and external power distribution while stationary or underway. The vehicle offers a payload capacity of 2,000 pounds, an operational range of 225 miles, accommodation for four personnel, and 12 inches of ground clearance combined with 32-inch tires for enhanced mobility across challenging terrain.
