Northrop Grumman has partnered with Apex to advance the development of space-based interceptor technologies under a US Space Force initiative supporting the Golden Dome missile defense program. The collaboration focuses on demonstrating orbital interceptor capabilities that could eventually counter ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missile threats directly from space. Northrop Grumman will leverage its missile defense expertise, manufacturing infrastructure, and AI-enabled systems, while Apex contributes satellite platform technology designed for large-scale constellations. The effort represents a significant step toward creating a layered missile defense architecture extending beyond traditional ground and naval systems. Planned orbital demonstrations in 2027 are expected to provide valuable insights into the feasibility of operational space-based defense networks.
