In a move to strengthen aerial surveillance, the Ministry of Defence has finalized a ₹1,950 crore agreement with Bharat Electronics Limited for the procurement of two mountain radars and supporting infrastructure for the Indian Air Force.

The ministry stated that the induction of these systems will improve the country’s air defence network and reinforce national security, while promoting self-reliance by minimizing dependence on foreign technologies.

Developed domestically by DRDO’s Electronics and Radar Development Establishment, the mountain radar will be manufactured by BEL as part of India’s indigenous defence production efforts.
