The UK Ministry of Defence is preparing to award Heckler & Koch a long-term contract for the continued supply and support of the L7A2 General Purpose Machine Gun system used by the British Armed Forces. The agreement reflects the importance of maintaining one of the military’s most reliable and versatile infantry weapons. The L7A2, derived from the FN MAG platform, has undergone extensive modifications and safety enhancements by H&K, making the company uniquely positioned to support the weapon’s lifecycle. The machine gun remains a key asset across infantry, vehicle-mounted, and helicopter-mounted roles, providing sustained firepower and battlefield flexibility.
