As part of its drive to expand domestic unmanned warfare capabilities, India has sanctioned a 5-billion-rupee ($52.9 million) National Military Drone Technology Hub in Uttar Pradesh.

To be established at the government-backed Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), the center will support the full lifecycle of military drone technologies, including payload integration, system validation, networking solutions, ground station development, and counter-UAS capabilities.

Authorities say the hub will serve as a focal point for innovation, testing, and fielding of advanced drone platforms, helping accelerate the development of indigenous defense technologies and operational drone solutions.
