A remotely operated missile launcher capable of deployment across land and maritime platforms could provide military forces with greater flexibility in delivering air defence capabilities while reducing personnel exposure to potential threats.
Thales UK has successfully demonstrated this capability for the first time by firing a Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) from its newly developed remote launcher during a live-fire trial conducted this week.
The demonstration also tested the company’s ForceShield UK command-and-control system, which coordinated the missile engagement through its Agile Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) engagement control technology and multi-mission fire control system.
The trial highlights the potential of integrating remotely operated launchers with advanced command-and-control technologies to deliver more flexible and responsive air defence capabilities across different operational environments.
