The Romanian Armed Forces have placed an order with Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) for 860 additional tactical military trucks, representing the third phase of a long-term fleet procurement program.

The contract falls under a 2019 framework agreement for 2,900 high-mobility vehicles. The program has already delivered 942 trucks in the first phase, followed by 1,107 vehicles in the second phase between 2023 and 2026. The newly ordered trucks will be delivered during the next three years.

Logistics Platform Variants

The vehicles are supplied in four main configurations—4×4, 6×6, 8×8, and 8×8 prime mover—and span 16 different variants tailored for logistics and operational support.

These include cargo trucks, armored troop transport vehicles, hook-lift systems, recovery vehicles, tank transporters, command posts, ambulance platforms, and other specialized support vehicles. About one-third of the fleet will feature armored driver cabs.

Designed for demanding military environments, the trucks incorporate central tire inflation, blackout lighting, self-recovery winches, and tactical axles, delivering strong off-road performance and deep-water fording capability. The vehicles are also transportable by the Lockheed C-130 Hercules, enabling rapid deployment in support of military operations.
