Germany will deploy a Patriot air defense battery to Turkey under a NATO rotation mission aimed at strengthening regional missile defense. Around 150 German soldiers from Husum will be stationed in Turkey from late June through September alongside the Patriot system, replacing a currently deployed US unit. The deployment comes amid heightened tensions following Iranian missile attacks linked to the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Tehran. NATO forces have reportedly intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles over Turkish territory multiple times since the conflict began. Germany previously operated Patriot systems in Turkey between 2013 and 2015 to secure the Syrian border. The Patriot platform includes launchers, radar systems, and fire control stations designed to intercept ballistic missiles, aircraft, and cruise missiles.
