L3Harris Technologies has signed a multiyear agreement with the US Navy to expand production capacity for critical components used in Tomahawk cruise missiles.
The agreement with the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division China Lake will support the manufacture of key missile components as the Navy works to increase production of major munitions, including Raytheon’s Tomahawk.
L3Harris has supported Tomahawk production for more than three decades. Its contributions include the Mk 135 solid-propellant booster and the missile’s blast-fragmentation warhead.
The company has not disclosed the value of the agreement or specified the scale of the planned production increase.
US Navy Expands Tomahawk Procurement
The Tomahawk is a long-range precision-strike cruise missile deployed from US Navy surface ships and submarines. Primarily designed for land-attack missions, the weapon has also gained maritime strike capabilities through the Block Va variant.
The Navy is increasing procurement of new missiles while investing in upgrades for its existing inventory. Its fiscal 2027 budget request includes $1.52 billion for Tomahawk modifications.
In August, the Navy awarded Raytheon a $22.9 billion contract aimed at accelerating Tomahawk production, citing the need to expand manufacturing capacity and strengthen the US munitions industrial base.
Alongside new missile production, the Navy is modernizing its existing Tomahawk fleet. The Block V program incorporates navigation and communications upgrades, while subsequent variants introduce enhanced capabilities against maritime targets and improved effects against land targets.
