KNDS Deutschland has received a contract to manufacture 48 Boxer vehicles for the German military.

Valued at 352 million euros ($409 million), the order includes 38 armored Boxer ambulances and 10 driver training vehicles, with options for Germany to acquire an additional 150 ambulances and 100 training vehicles.

Deliveries are set to start in early 2028.

This procurement falls under a wider 4.5-billion-euro ($5.25 billion) framework to provide 270 Boxer vehicles to Germany and the Netherlands.

KNDS is executing the order as a subcontractor to ARTEC, the Boxer’s OEM and a joint venture between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Landsysteme.

Boxer Variants

The Boxer ambulance functions as the initial medical evacuation asset, supplying vital pre-hospital care to wounded personnel.

Its flexible mission module allows it to transport a substantial number of casualties depending on injury type, and it can support intensive care operations when necessary.

The ambulance model provides crew protection equal to that of the infantry variant, strengthening personnel safety in deployment scenarios.

The driver training vehicle is specifically designed to prepare and certify operators of the Boxer.

Used exclusively for peacetime training, it mirrors the weight and handling of other Boxer variants, eliminating additional familiarization requirements when transitioning to operational configurations.
