The US Army’s M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks and Stryker 8×8 armored fighting vehicles are expected to receive an enhanced strike capability through the PERCH 2.0 system, designed to help counter evolving battlefield threats.
PERCH 2.0, short for Precision Effects & Reconnaissance, Canister-Housed, is a bolt-on launcher that can be installed without making permanent modifications to a vehicle’s hull.
Developed jointly by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) and AeroVironment, the system enables crews to deploy Switchblade loitering munitions from beneath the protection of the vehicle’s armor, reducing their exposure to enemy fire during launch operations.
