Polaris Government and Defense has secured a $10.6 million contract from Belgium to supply MRZR D4 tactical all-terrain vehicles for the Belgian Special Operations Regiment. The new vehicles will replace the long-serving Groundhog fleet, operational since 2009, providing enhanced mobility for special operations missions in rugged and high-threat environments. Delivery details have not yet been disclosed.
The order was placed through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency’s (NSPA) framework agreement signed in September 2025, which simplifies procurement by removing the need for additional evaluations and competitive tenders. The framework also offers bulk purchasing advantages, faster acquisition timelines, greater interoperability, and improved logistics efficiency across NATO member and partner countries.
The combat-proven MRZR D4, introduced in 2012, is in service with over 50 allied militaries and has been continually modernized to meet changing operational demands. The vehicle incorporates a modular architecture, a foldable roll cage for internal aircraft transport, on-demand all-wheel drive, one-meter water-crossing capability, and a payload capacity of 680 kilograms.
Equipped with a 55-horsepower turbo-diesel engine, the MRZR D4 accommodates four personnel and delivers a range of up to 322 kilometers. Compatible with transport aboard AW101 Merlin, CH-47 Chinook, V-22 Osprey, fixed-wing aircraft, and maritime platforms, it is designed for rapid deployment. The platform can be configured for personnel transport, casualty evacuation, command and control, logistics support, and integration with ISR, counter-UAS, communications, autonomy, medical, and weapon systems.
