Brazil’s Navy has signed a cooperation agreement with EDGE Group to bolster its cyber defense capabilities in response to growing digital threats facing military systems.

The memorandum, finalized in São Paulo, outlines a collaborative approach to securing naval networks, systems, and critical infrastructure, with an emphasis on enhancing cyber resilience in maritime operations.

Under the deal, the two sides will explore establishing a specialized cyber defense unit and develop tools for monitoring and protecting naval systems. The initiative also aims to strengthen cybersecurity for operational technologies used in ships, while advancing training programs for personnel responsible for safeguarding digital assets.

The partnership will address technical, operational, and logistical considerations, with the objective of integrating cyber capabilities into core naval operations.

Brazil has significantly intensified its cyber defense initiatives in recent years. In 2025, its Cyber Defense Command took part in a US Southern Command-led exercise focused on defending infrastructure, identifying system vulnerabilities, and improving response strategies.

Earlier, in 2024, Brazil participated in the largest cyber exercise in the Southern Hemisphere alongside 30 nations, simulating attacks on critical infrastructure. During the same year, the Brazilian Air Force announced the establishment of its first cyber defense center.
