Rheinmetall UK has secured a contract to provide its Trailblazer Driver Vision and Local Situation Awareness System for the British Army’s upgraded M270 A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System.

Prototype deliveries are planned for early 2026, followed by full-scale production later in the year. The contract is estimated to be worth mid single-digit millions of euros.

Trailblazer offers a combination of daylight, thermal, and fused sensor views, enabling improved terrain awareness, safer manoeuvring, effective route selection, and enhanced threat identification in poor visibility, obscured environments, and adverse weather.

The system has been adopted by seven nations, delivering a standardised vehicle vision solution across diverse military platforms.

Rheinmetall UK will deliver the full sensor and integration package, including driver vision units, remote side and rear sensors, installation kits, hardened wiring, operator controls, and protective covers.

The company has progressively strengthened its role as a key provider of vehicle vision and situational awareness technologies to the British Army.

This upgrade will mark the 17th military platform to be fitted with the Trailblazer system.

Beyond the M270 A2 MLRS, Rheinmetall UK has supplied Trailblazer for the Challenger 3 main battle tank, where it improves crew effectiveness under low-light and adverse conditions.

Trailblazer is also deployed on the Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicle and the Warrior infantry fighting vehicle, supporting the British Army’s drive to standardise vision systems across its armoured fleet.
