Canadian UAV firm Draganfly has landed a contract to deliver its Commander3 XL drones to a key unit of the US Department of Defense, supporting the Pentagon’s adoption of next-gen autonomous systems.
Designed for ISR missions and multi-role functionality, the Commander3 XL offers a modular design for carrying payloads like cameras, LiDAR, and cargo delivery kits. It can carry up to 22 pounds, fly at 45 mph, and stay airborne for 35 minutes when unloaded or 20 minutes at full load.
The drone also comes in a hybrid version with a Pegasus 70cc engine that runs on multiple fuel types, enhancing endurance and versatility in diverse field conditions.
Draganfly is headquartered in Saskatchewan and recently launched a new facility in Tampa, Florida, to expand support for North American defense and security clients.
