Kopin Corporation is moving to fully internalize OLED microdisplay manufacturing operations at its Westborough, Massachusetts, facility.
The initiative follows the procurement of a new OLED deposition system and supporting manufacturing equipment, enabling the company to end outsourced production arrangements.
According to the company, the shift is being driven by increasing defense-sector demand for secure domestic supply chains and accelerated delivery of components integrated into FPV drone platforms, thermal targeting optics, and other critical battlefield equipment.
OLED microdisplays are widely used in these systems because of their lightweight design, sharp image quality, and energy-efficient performance.
