Indra has secured a new contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to provide electronic warfare and radar systems for six more Type 212CD submarines, extending its role across the entire 12-boat fleet ordered by Germany and Norway. The agreement builds on an existing deal covering the first six submarines, where Indra is already delivering its fully digital EW and radar solutions.

The Type 212CD submarine is an advanced conventional platform equipped with air-independent propulsion, optimized for operations in the North Atlantic and seamless integration with NATO missions.

The joint German-Norwegian procurement began in 2021 with six submarines—four for Norway and two for Germany. Subsequent orders, including two additional boats by Norway in 2026 and four more approved by Germany in 2024, have expanded the program to 12 units. Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems is the prime contractor overseeing the project.

Within the program, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace heads a consortium with TKMS and Atlas Elektronik to develop the ORCCA combat management system, integrating Indra’s systems for improved mission effectiveness. HENSOLDT is also contributing optronic mast technologies (OMS 150 and OMS 300), enabling advanced sensing without hull penetration.
