The US has approved two prospective military sales totaling $92.8 million for India, featuring Javelin anti-armor missiles and Excalibur precision artillery munitions. The first deal, costing $45.7 million, would supply one fly-to-buy Javelin missile, 100 missile rounds, 25 CLUs, skills trainers, simulation equipment, and related support. The second, priced at $47.1 million, includes up to 216 M982A1 Excalibur guided projectiles with ancillary components and integration hardware. Both sales are intended to enhance India’s combat readiness and reinforce bilateral defense cooperation. The Javelin system, jointly developed by RTX and Lockheed Martin, enables infantry to engage armored vehicles with fire-and-forget capability, while the Excalibur 155 mm round provides precise long-range strike capability with reported 2-meter accuracy.
