Boeing has secured an $8.5 billion contract from the US Department of Defense to deliver F-15IA combat aircraft to the Israeli Air Force.

The foreign military sale covers the production, integration, instrumentation, and testing of 25 aircraft, along with an option for 25 additional jets.

All manufacturing activities will be conducted at Boeing’s St. Louis, Missouri facility, with program completion planned for December 2035. The initiative will be managed in coordination with the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The F-15IA represents Israel’s customized version of the F-15EX Eagle II, designed to replace aging F-15C/D fighters in US service and to complement newer fifth-generation platforms.

Derived from the F-15 Advanced Eagle baseline, the aircraft enhances interoperability across mixed fighter fleets, including the F-22 and F-35.

Israel first announced plans to acquire the F-15IA in 2023 amid heightened security concerns across the Middle East, followed by an initial procurement contract with Boeing in 2024.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2031, with annual deliveries of four to six aircraft, under a program that could ultimately include up to 50 jets.

The F-15IA measures 64 feet in length, has a 42-foot wingspan, and supports expanded weapons systems crew operations. It is equipped with a 20-mm cannon, a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, and precision-guided and unguided munitions.

Its sensor suite includes an AESA radar, infrared search-and-track system, advanced targeting pods, and electronic countermeasures. Twin GE F110-GE-129 engines power the aircraft to speeds of Mach 2.5, a range exceeding 2,100 nautical miles, and service ceilings up to 60,000 feet.
