Electro Optic Systems has secured a conditional $80 million agreement to deliver its flagship 100-kilowatt class laser weapon to South Korea, reinforcing growing international demand for high-energy laser air defense systems. The solution is optimized to defeat unmanned aerial threats by delivering precise, instantaneous energy strikes capable of disabling or destroying targets in seconds, while dramatically reducing per-shot costs compared to conventional interceptors. Beyond the initial supply contract, EOS will establish a joint venture with its Korean partner to localize production, support future deliveries, and license laser weapon intellectual property for domestic use. Manufacturing for the initial system will be carried out through EOS’ new Singapore-based laser weapons facility, which will undergo customer inspection and acceptance as part of the agreement. Financial terms include an upfront deposit of $18 million, milestone-based payments, and full refund protections in the event of non-performance. Regulatory approvals and contractual conditions are expected to be finalized before early 2026, enabling system delivery to South Korea by late 2027, followed by operational demonstrations. This deal represents EOS’ second confirmed export order for its 100-kilowatt laser system, following a previous European sale, and underscores the accelerating adoption of directed-energy weapons in modern air defense architectures.
