Ukraine’s defense sector received a boost as Trypillian, a British-Ukrainian company, announced $5 million in investment for its long-range autonomous strike drone project, the Trypillian SSG. Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed the funding, stressing the system’s ability to bypass GPS, enabling operations even in contested zones where electronic warfare is rampant. The firm, established by veterans and industry experts, has also joined Ukraine’s Diia City initiative—a government-backed program providing tech companies with favorable tax regimes, simplified regulations, and protection of trade secrets. This environment will allow Trypillian to expand securely while retaining key talent. The Trypillian SSG aims to suppress enemy air defenses, complementing existing drone and missile arsenals. Its autonomy allows deep penetration missions without constant operator oversight. Beyond immediate battlefield use, the program reflects Kyiv’s wider strategy of aligning startups with global defense networks, including German AI projects and American-backed innovation hubs. Ukraine’s defense leadership sees this investment as more than financial support—it is a sign of global trust in Ukraine’s defense technology sector and its ability to produce cutting-edge, battlefield-ready systems.
