The German Armed Forces have received their first Eagle 6×6 medium protected medical vehicle from General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), fulfilling part of a 2020 contract.

The delivery was made to the Medical Training Regiment in Feldkirchen, Bavaria, amid a field exercise simulating emergency response scenarios.

Valued at $159 million, Germany’s contract includes the supply of as many as 80 Eagle 6×6 units to strengthen battlefield medical support.

The new vehicles will complement the army’s existing fleet of light and heavy medical transport vehicles, such as the legacy Eagle Ground Reconnaissance System and the Boxer Multi-Role Armored Vehicle.

The Eagle 6×6 features a 7-meter chassis, a 6,000 kg payload, and configurable seating for up to 14 occupants. It’s powered by a diesel engine delivering 360 hp, includes an Allison five-speed automatic transmission, and uses a fully independent De Dion axle suspension system.

It can reach speeds of 110 km/h (68 mph) with a maximum range of 700 km (435 miles).

Its ambulance variant is specially equipped with advanced medical gear and a modular stretcher system capable of accommodating two patients during transport.
