Polaris Government and Defense has secured a follow-on US Marine Corps (USMC) contract for additional MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicles (ULTVs), including the debut procurement of the platform’s 5kW exportable power version.

Valued at as much as $98 million over five years, the contract supports ongoing production and delivery of the MRZR Alpha fleet, as well as engineering and sustainment services provided by Polaris.

The 5kW configuration delivers 24-volt, 5-kilowatt exportable power, allowing the vehicle to support electricity-intensive systems such as tactical computing networks and air defense equipment directly from the platform.

The capability is intended to help Marines establish forward tactical power grids during littoral operations without separate generator systems, while preserving the vehicle’s ability to transport wounded troops and mission supplies.

Designed for expeditionary warfare, the MRZR Alpha can be rapidly deployed and transported inside MV-22 and CH-53 aircraft, providing highly mobile support for Marine Corps units operating in contested environments.

The USMC already fields more than 500 MRZR Alpha ULTVs across a range of operational roles, including logistics support, casualty evacuation, infantry mobility, aircraft ground refueling, and counter-unmanned aerial system missions.

In addition to the 5kW model, Polaris offers a standard 1kW variant optimized for lighter power requirements such as communications equipment, electronics, and sensor systems. Both versions feature a three-port fused connector that enables simultaneous power use while the vehicle is moving or stationary.

The MRZR Alpha carries payloads up to 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms) and can travel up to 225 miles (362 kilometers). The platform seats four personnel, provides 12 inches (30 centimeters) of ground clearance, and uses 32-inch tires at both front and rear to improve mobility across rough terrain.
