Finland, Norway, and Latvia have formalized their intention to adopt Patria’s TRACKX tracked armored vehicle by signing a statement of intent aimed at expanding cooperation on advanced land mobility capabilities.
TRACKX has been developed through the EU-supported Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armored Systems (FAMOUS) initiative as a next-generation lightweight tracked platform designed to enhance mobility, protection, and operational flexibility for European armed forces.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara and establishes a framework for the three countries to share operational testing results, jointly advance the platform’s development, and explore coordinated procurement opportunities.
If development progresses as planned, the participating nations could begin serial acquisition of the vehicle from 2027 onward.
Patria noted that the initiative complements its ongoing Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, which has strengthened standardization, interoperability, and collaborative procurement across several European and NATO member states.
About the TRACKX Vehicle
The Patria TRACKX is a 7-meter-long tracked armored platform weighing approximately 15,000 kilograms (33,069 pounds). It can transport 10 personnel while being operated by a crew consisting of a driver and commander.
Engineered for challenging environments, the vehicle incorporates NATO-standard ballistic and mine protection, is capable of operating in Arctic conditions, and supports amphibious missions through its ability to traverse water.
The platform is powered by a 360-horsepower Caterpillar 7.1-liter diesel engine, delivering a maximum road speed of 80 km/h (50 mph), an operational range of 500 kilometers (311 miles), and an amphibious speed of around 4 km/h (2 mph).
