KNDS and Elbit Systems Land have formalized a joint venture, EuroPULS GmbH, to jointly market the EuroPULS rocket artillery system to European armed forces, with both companies holding equal stakes. Under the partnership, Elbit will supply its PULS launcher technology, while KNDS will contribute its fire control expertise and strong foothold within the European defense market. Based in Kassel, Germany, the initiative aims to capitalize on Europe’s increasing need for an alternative to HIMARS, particularly in light of prolonged US delivery timelines and the diversion of systems to support Ukraine in its war with Russia.
The EuroPULS system is a highly mobile, truck-based multiple launch rocket platform capable of engaging targets at distances of up to 300 kilometers using guided rockets. Derived from Elbit’s battle-proven PULS system, it has been tailored for European production and requirements through prior industrial collaboration. The launcher is compatible with a wide spectrum of munitions, including Accular, EXTRA, and Predator Hawk rockets. While Germany and the Netherlands have already committed to the system, other European countries such as Estonia and Norway have opted for alternatives like the K239 Chunmoo MLRS developed by Hanwha Aerospace, either as replacements for or supplements to HIMARS.
