The Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed the receipt of a substantial delivery of upgraded Su-57 fifth-generation fighter aircraft manufactured by United Aircraft Corporation, part of the state-owned Rostec group.
The aircraft have been enhanced in line with military operational requirements, featuring modernized avionics, advanced onboard systems, and an upgraded weapons package tailored for contemporary combat conditions.
Su-57 Overview
NATO-designated “Felon,” the Su-57 is a multirole fifth-generation fighter intended to replace Russia’s legacy Su-27 and MiG-29 platforms. The aircraft is approximately 20 meters long with a 14-meter wingspan and is equipped with a Gryazev-Shipunov cannon, guided and cluster munitions, and a comprehensive arsenal of air-to-air, air-to-surface, anti-ship, and anti-radiation missiles, enabling full-spectrum combat operations across air, land, and maritime domains.
It features a service ceiling of 20,000 meters, a range of 4,500 kilometers, and a top speed of Mach 2.
According to leaked documents circulated by the hacker group Black Mirror, Russia has also explored potential export arrangements for the Su-57 with Iran, Ethiopia, and Algeria. In parallel, Moscow is reportedly assessing options for localized production of the fighter in India as part of longer-term industrial cooperation strategies.
